Pu Luong is about 170km from Hanoi, so you can easily get there by car on the HCM highway in 4 hours, or 80km only, about 1hour 30 minutes from Tho Xuan airport, Thanh Hoa. If you make the journey you will enjoy a very suitable 3 day 2 night stay in Pu Luong.
If you have more time, you can combine the vacation to Mai Chau and Pu Luong for 4 days and 3 nights. Pu Luong itself is an interesting destination and is temperate all year round with clear skies and two harvest seasons when rice is ripe and water is poured, from May to June and September to October. Capture the life of the wild mountains and forests.
Indeed, Pu Luong is one of the few primeval forests with extremely diverse and undisturbed fauna and flora. You are invited to visit a paradise in the midst of majesty and listen to the murmuring streams winding around the green mountains, where the bright dawn rays pierce the ancient forest. The terraced fields are yellow, like sweet honey in the autumn, every April and September. Pu Luong is a year-round destination, each season has its own treasures to uncover.
180km from Hanoi to the West takes 4 hours by car. An early morning departure and return to Hanoi in the evening after the loop of Hanoi – Hoa Binh – Mai Chau – Pu Luong – Thanh Hoa – Hanoi. Pu Luong, located only 130km northwest of Thanh Hoa city, is famous for its rugged and winding roads, unique stilt houses hidden amidst immense green forests decked in mountain fog, clouds, and sky.
May, June, September and October are the best times to explore Pu Luong, when the rice is fully ripe on the terraced fields on the hillside, which adorn the jade highland painted with sparkling colors.
Secret Hideaways is made of separate huts located on the hillside, inspired by the poetic natural landscape, overlooking the majestic rice fields, valleys, and forests. Many old Thai houses in Leo village are still intact to explore and walk through to learn about the many lives that haven’t changed in ages.
DAY 1: HANOI – Hoa Binh – Mai Chau – SECRET HIDEAWAYS (Lunch, Dinner)
09:00: You stop at Luong Son town, Hoa Binh
11:00: Visit the Muong people’s market and learn about the life, culture, and customs of the
people here. Enjoy the beautiful scenery at Thung Khe Pass – One of the ten most beautiful passes in Vietnam.
12:30: Arrive at Pu Luong Nature Reserve, check in and have lunch at Locavore.
14:30 – 17:30: Car takes you to the starting point of the walking journey to explore Kho Muong village. Walk along the secret small roads through terraced fields and suspension bridges to visit the remote Thai village. You will visit the traditional old house of Thai people to better understand the lives of indigenous people. Explore Hang Doi or Bat Cave in Kho Muong Village. This is the largest limestone cave in Pu Luong. Then walk up to the car and ride back to Secret Hideaways and take a rest or a dip in the swimming pool.
19:00: Enjoy fine dining and enjoy a quiet space in the mountains
21:00 Movie under the stars or Quang Dung’s poetry for music night.

DAY 2: Experience Pu Luong (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
7:30 – 08:30: Have breakfast and enjoy the mountain landscape
09:00 – 12:00: Take a car to go there, (20km/15minutes). Then walk through small rice roads and cross terraced fields and tropical forests to explore the Thác Hưu (Hao Falls).
Noon: Have lunch at a Thai house
Afternoon: swim freely at the waterfall or explore the surrounding village and forest before returning to Secret Hideaways
17:00 – 18:30: Rest and relax at the swimming pool at your leisure.
19:00: Have dinner and rest at the retreat in a quiet mountain and forest space.
21:00 Overnight at Secret Hideaways.
DAY 3: PU LUONG – HANOI (Breakfast, lunch)
07:00 – 08:00: Have breakfast and enjoy the mountain landscape at your leisure
08:30 – 11:30: The group starts to walk along a small road through terraced fields to visit and explore the peaceful beauty of Lang Trong and Lang Ngoai villages which are located in Pu Luong nature reserve. See the majestic rice-terraced valley and discover the life of the Thai people here (depending on weather conditions)
12:00: Get on the car to return to Secret Hideaways to check out
12:30: Have lunch and relax at the swimming pool or walk around the village before getting on the bus back to Hanoi at 14:00
17:00: Stop to rest on the way back.
18:30: The car will take you back to the hotel in the Old Quarter area or your residence in Hanoi. End of program
